This weekend has been tough emotionally.
I have been saying "goodbye" to the baby years.
I am 45, have fibroids and irregular cycles.
I have finally given in.
I was so confident that God would bless us once again...
The Godmother of dd2 and dd4 are both expecting their firsts! Everything is going to them. We went through it all this weekend ... so many memories. I just had to cry.
We are so blessed! God has been more than good to us, but maybe I regret some of my own actions or inaction.
Herr, ich glaube. Hilf mein Unglaube.

I'm so sorry. I know how difficult it is to know that your last is your last.
You'll be in my prayers. I hope you feel peace and comfort by blessing those Godmothers with what I know will be treasured possessions.
Big hugs.

Big hugs for you here, dear. Know that there are friends here who truly do understand that pain. I'm so sorry.

Stephanie,
Many prayers and hugs from me too. I will be 44 soon and no one told me it would be this hard.

I'm so sorry. I am 51 and STILL miss the baby years. I don't think it ever really gets easier for some of us. My dh said he thinks my idea of heaven is for me to never hit the change, be pregnant with littles for eternity. I think he might be right.

Stephanie, I can totally relate. I had my little girl three days after my 46th birthday, but no pregnancies since then. It is hard to see that time go by. I totally empathize with what you are feeling!

I know, I know! I will be 45 in a few more weeks. When we were visiting oldest ds at college, there, at another table, was a simply scrumptious baby! About 2 months old, chubby as could be- I so could picture holding my boys at that age, the softness, squeezing (gently! ) those little chubby thighs. The feeling of your sweet babe snuggling against you....
And then I looked around at my boys. I am so blessed. I know that. I don't think the love of babies ever goes away. Maybe that is what will make us wonderful grandmothers (yikes!)?
God Bless,
Stacy in MI

Grandchildren are truly God's way of softening the transition away from our own child-bearing season. If you are not yet blessed with grandchildren, try spending time helping other families with little ones...holding a baby really helps fill that yearning which never quite leaves your soul. We are miles and miles away from our newest grandchild and anxiously awaiting a visit soon! One of the blessings of enjoying grandchildren, godchildren and other sweet little ones is that you are able to savour the experience even more because you aren't caught up in fulfilling their every need like you were when raising your own...you get to enjoy the icing on the cake! This season gets easier and sweeter as it unfolds!

One of the blessings of being a little further ahead on the journey is being able to turn back a moment, for the sake of encouraging and reassuring those who are traveling behind you, and let one another know that we can indeed survive the hills and valleys along the Way! Stephanie, your kindness and generosity in giving your baby things to firsttime mothers will surely bring blessings you cannot yet foresee! I'm praying the Lord will comfort and bless you as you grieve the loss of the precious baby years and look forward to whatever God has in store for you beyond this time.
St. Anne's Tearoom is such a blessing...thanks be to God that we can share our joys and sorrows here.

Oh yes, Angie! It is a comfort knowing that we are praying for each other! I am not very good at grieving...
