But my twins....one likes to go over, grab his brother's hair...and then lick/eat it. Keeping in mind that they *are* only 9 mos old (not adjusted). Figure 8, adjusted...
They are beginning to do that creep/fling thing (one goes forward, one backwards)..and the forward creeping one will head directly for his brother, grab his hair/cheek/ear, throw him over, and start his mouthing...John's hair ends up looking very "punk" if we don't catch David in time.
I mean, they BOTH have lots of soft hair (they actually need haircuts already). So I am sure that that is part of the appeal...but still.
Have any of you had babies who would do that? I'm kind of afraid he's going to end up with a hairball. As is, we've got them in separate beds, cause they would otherwise spend most of the night doing the ear/hair pulling and eye gouging thing...
SIGH

Never had two close enough in age to have them eating each others hair. Much less BOYS...lol
Guess I'll have to take your word for it...

cheaper than the library book my son "ate"
didn't think anything about it.. he really wasn't big enough to even tear pages.. but he apparently would mouth the page and then paw at it with his hand.. and a portion of the page just disintegrated

Rachel,
Congrats on your little twin boys! I have fraternal twin girls that are 2 years old and that is very normal for them to be exploring each other!! In fact, mine would pull each others hair and then when they had a fist-full of it, start screaming since they have a dread fear of hair???? I don't know why this is, but they call it "buggies" now that they are older, and think it has a life of it's own or something. (They are also afraid of fuzz and feather dusters etc.) It is quite hysterical. You will find as they get older that when one freaks out, it is sort of like a chain reaction and the other feeds off of the energy of the other.
We had to place them in separate cribs for awhile too since they would scratch each other or one would lay on top of the other one etc. We have them in separate cribs still, but on some mornings, I will go in to check on them and one will have gotten out of the crib in the middle of the night and climbed in with sister. This will all get better as they get older. I have found too that THEY can get into little tiffs with each other but if one of the other siblings picks on one of the twins, then the other will step in and protest loudly that "she my FRIEND!". It is really cute.
AHHH, 8 months old was SUCH a cute age. Enjoy them. I feel for you a bit since once they get mobile, (walking) you are in for a heck of a time!!!! I spend large amounts of time chasing them these days, and they tend to be a little more dangerous than singletons since they use their two little minds together as one mind to get into a lot of trouble. I had to install a special lock on our front door since they figured out very young how to get out of the door and I have to keep doors closed throughout the house etc. They get into everything!!!!!!!!!!
I had to go to a funeral yesterday, so I had my MIL who is a former teacher and long-time homeschooler come over to do school with the kids in my absence. (My DH was home too.) My husband said she commented at least 3 times in just under 3 hours, "I don't see how Kim isn't crazy with these twins!!" She even emailed me this morning with how they were "little tornadoes" coming into the classroom and she could see the other kids mouths moving, but could not hear them. This is from a woman who has always wanted twins, has identical twins sisters, and who has another son (my BIL) expecting identical twins boys next month!!! So, she loves twins!!! But, she saw that they can be very distracting to the homeschool setting as toddlers. So, when they get that old, realize that it is very normal and try to do the best you can. It is quite a blessing, so I try to remember that!!! It can be challenging though. But, to answer your ?, I don't think they will choke or anything on the hair.

LOL--and you have a Bobby (John's middle name is Robert), Lily's name was possibly going to be Isabella, and I LOOOOOVE the name Grace....lol....
Now, if I ever get further down my girls' list, well, we will have to see if I can sneak in a Grace somewhere...
I have Julia, Lucy, Amelia, and Celia/Cecilia left on my list. Eventually, I may get thru them all--God willing, of course...

My dd used to eat hair and once in a while would gag and id have to sweep out her mouth- its not really a choking hazard but made her spit up alot.
What was worse was changing her dirty diapers and ahem "removing" said hairs that only came through partially on their own
consider yourself warned
