I am planning on calling to get our 7year old son in for tests tomorrow to check for possible Mono or Pneumonia. He has had fevers, tired, low appetite, headaches, etc. He just looks so bad a lot of the time (dark circles under the eyes)and is such a delightful child to be with. I am really sad as a mommy, I can't fix it. If you wouldn't mind offering up prayers for him and his health. Thank you so much!

Thank you all for your prayers. I got him in for an appt today at 2:00. HE woke up looking pretty bad, almost teary eyed. I'll let you know what the Dr finds, if anything.

We will certainly pray. My DS had mono a few years back and we did not know about it for awhile. He lost weight to the point of people at church asking if he was o.k and I thought it was just his crazy eating habits at the time. (He had a "health nut" phase a few years ago, tofu, mushrooms, beansprouts and all) Anyway, his spleen was enlarged once the doc diagnosed him, so he had to be careful so it would not rupture. Make sure your son takes it easy till you find out. (No horseplay etc.) He also had headaches etc. I thought it was very interesting that mono isn't some "strange" teen illness like I always assumed. The doc said that most people (95% to be exact) have had mono, but when they were little, around 2 or three, and it just seems like a bad cold. It is only when you were NOT exposed to it as a little kid, and get it later in life, that is becomes more significant or dangerous. (Sort of akin to chicken pox I guess.) Anyway, it did take months for him to recover. He would get winded playing etc. OR, it could be pneumonia since that is going around. The doc will be able to tell that by listening to his lungs, and the mono possibly by his overall look and his spleen being enlarged or not. In our prayers and good luck!!! I would get him in either way fairly soon for a diagnosis since both of those things are fairly big deals .

Oh, sending prayers, and hope you have some answers soon!
The Epstein-Barr Virus is the same as the Mono virus (similar to how the same virus can cause chicken pox and shingles.) My poor teen, with already having kidney problems, contracted this a few years back . She will go through periods of time where she is exhausted, her glands will swell, etc, that can last for weeks at a time. Then, she will be "just fine" again.

Thank you all for your prayers. The appt went well today and the DR listened to my concerns. (Usually she pre-diagnoses and hurries you along)
We all know God is the Divine planner, he has other plans for our weekend. Our weekend was filled with gatherings for our one year old's birthday party and dinner with friends. Right now God needs us with our son.
He was tested for Mono (Friday) and will be getting x-rays of his adenoids and upper chest on Sunday.. ( yes I know Sunday), Dr told me to take him to the Walk in clinic on Sunday at 11 for the x-rays and to get his ppd read along with the Xrays.
I came home with more meds for him than I do after a delivery. I am praying it is not Mono, but will be happy to rule it out. He is still with fever, but should start to feel better soon.

**UPDATE** Feb 28
Miracles!! I thank you so much for your prayers for our son. Today we had the follow-up appt and just about everything came back negative, even though he was textbook for mono...and he only had Sinusitis. He had the antibiotic over the weekend and is looking and feeling so much better. Thank you again for your time in prayer.
