I thought the information in this prayer request might be helpful for others. A friend described an incident of having a racing heart after taking this med years ago. At the time she was told her reaction was a fluke. She took it again a few years later, had the same reaction, and was told to not take epinephine in the future.

epinephrine is essentially "adreneline" of course it should make your heart rate increase etc.

My mother has the same experience with epinephrine and a couple of years ago chose not to use it while having some minor dental work done. As a result, she ended up with a HUGE hematoma (sp?) on her right cheek. She had to go back to the surgeon to have it looked at and they drained 2 cups of blood out of her face! She looked like someone had knocked her in the head with a 2x4 and couldn't leave the house for a week! She is a Director of Religious Education for our parish and couldn't even go to church (on the advice of our pastor, no less!) because everyone was afraid that she would scare the kids to death! It sounds funny (and it WAS you should have seen her!) but it is really true. She still has a lop-sided smile! On the upside, all of the care pertaining to the injury, even the actual surgery, was free of charge and now her case is used in classes for maxio-facial surgeons. Unless it is really detrimental to your health, I would err on the side of caution and take the epinephrine!

To clarify, her heart raced to the point of an anxiety attack (as described as a possibility in the linked prayer request)...she hadn't pieced together the two things - epinephrine and anxiety attacks. Her dentist hadn't discussed the possibility with her.
As with any medical treatment, it is important to be informed of the pros and cons of any treatment.
