Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have started the usually long search for modest and pretty summer girls clothes for my 11 yo dd - Lands End has their usual dresses and shirts but the skirts are too short. They do have the longer shorts. I was pleasantly surprised when I went into Target yesterday and saw some nice Easter dresses with sleeves and longer length. I also saw some nice long shorts and sleeved t-shirts in pretty colors and which seemed good quality. I will try and take her this weekend to try on and check quality.

Anyone have any suggestions. We are totally streamlining for all the kids - just a few good clothes - but I still am on a budget with 3 who have nothing to wear once the weather turns warmer.

You could check out Hanna Andersson (can't link you because their site always crashes my computer). The clothes are definitely more expensive but they are incredibly well-made. My kids are still little so I can't speak from experience but other moms I know say their clothes fit for two years--so you only need to buy half as often. I definitely saw that with the few baby items we had.

I have friends who love Upstream Girl. They are modest and in style at the same time.

Don't forget to check for the "names" like Hanna Anderson on Ebay.. that's one way to get them into your budget.

Molly,

Thanks for the Upstream Girl link, what a great site. I think I might even find something there for my hard to please girl.

We are having the same problem. Only our situation is two-fold. My dd is very modest and most of the clothing that we find does not fit the bill. In addition, the fashions in a new country are a bit different than what we are used to in the states. She loves the Lands' End look, but I cannot find such a shop over here.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Can you order online from Lands End? I'm sure they would ship to Wales . . . though maybe that would raise the price too much?

Wow, thanks for the link! The dresses are nice. So are the nice long shorts and skirts. And the prices are very reasonable.
