Our DC are spending the night at my Mom's tonight. My Mom just moved here about three weeks ago, and lives in a large apt. complex. This is the first time my DC have spent the night away from us with the exception of when I've had to fly out of state for surgeries. I'm sure everything will be alright, and they will have a lot of fun. It is very hard for me to let anyone else care for our DC- I have major trust issues.  Sounds silly since this is my Mom I'm talking about. But...in the past, my Mom has been very critical of how we've raised our DC..including attacking our faith,not spanking, and HSing. Then she came to stay with us this Christmas-and has had a *complete* change of mind-so much to the point that she has apologized repeatedly to me and DH for sticking her nose in where it didn't belong(her words!  ). I am learning how to have a relationship with her as an adult, and letting her be the kind of Grandma she has expressed the desire to be. (DH and I are attending a BD party for adults only tonight-and this is our first date away from the DC in about two years.) Geez...I sound like an overprotective nut case! I...guess I may be!

*Update*- All went well! I did need to tell my Mom that our DC aren't allowed to watch the news. She respected that of course. DH and I had a nice time. Thanks for your prayers!

 I will pray for all involved tonight. How awesome that you and your family have been such a wonderful witness to your mom and that she has been gracious enough to tell you so! May you all be blessed as you grow in your new relationships.

Just seeing this too, Christy, but I hope everything went smoothly for you and your family. I am extremely overprotective of my children as well, and I know how hard it can be to just let go and trust.

I'm reading this after the event, but appreciated the update as well. I am a certified overprotective mom and do not let my dc stay overnight, even with local grandparents unless there is a major need. I am glad to hear all went well and that you had a nice evening out.
