Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Sorry, you can probably tell that I'm trying to root out an allergy problem with my son!

Have any of you (or your children) gone completely dairy free and found it to be beneficial? His poor head is always stuffy, and I've tried going off milk before, but it was such an ordeal, and I don't think I tried long enough (at least 3 weeks I hear?). Its tough when going gluten free, too, b/c many products/recipes up the dairy to keep the food from being too dry.

Thanks for any info!

My daughter and I are both substantially dairy free and have been since she was an infant. Like your son she had a stuffy nose and also had digestion problems. I didn't realize how much cow's milk was affecting my system until I did away with it entirely. When she was an infant I removed all dairy from my diet (she nursed exclusively until 11 months; I think on some level she was protecting herself from allergens).   We use soy milk in recipes, and have recently found almond milk as well. We don't eat much cheese, as my daughter tolerates parmesan cheese only. I will sometimes have feta or goat cheese on a salad.

Hope this helps! It is a trying adjustment, but it's become second nature now.

I'm the only one who really takes dairy here now (and even I am noticing that I get stuffy from time to time).

YES, it definitely has helped the 3 members of the family who are highly allergic to dairy. The other 2 have sensitivities but not so much.

My dh suffers so if he has any type of dairy, MOST especially CHEESE (the poor guy ).

My sister's 2 children have food allergies and she has found FAAN-Food allergy and anaphylaxis network--to be a good resource.
Apparently if you are dealing with a cow milk allergy there are other ingredients you need to watch for.
