Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am confused. I am trying to learn all I can about Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday/ Carnival and I keep coming across Kings Cake recipes.

I thought you were supposed to have Kings Cake for Epiphany?

Any thoughts/comments...

Mardi Gras in some areas, Louisiana for example, has stretched to include basically all the time from Epiphany to actual Mardi Gras.. A friend from there explained that you serve the Kings Cake at your party and the person that gets the "baby" in the cake (a little toy baked in) is traditionally the person to hold the next party.. and on and on until Mardi Gras.

I do both! When I made my King Cake this year for Epiphany, I made two and froze the second ... I'll get it out Monday and reheat it Tuesday morning and VOILA, breakfast for Mardi Gras!

Both depending on how I'm feeling. Depending on the crowd, the baby winner gets to lead the rosary.
