Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

It seems that since I added a new capable child to the kitchen roster I have not quite figured out a new routine. It probably seems pretty silly...but I thought that maybe some fresh ideas would inspire me

FYI, for breakfast the kids clean up their own plates etc. and stack them in the sink or dishwasher (depending on whether they are being done by hand or the machine). This meal is always on me as I like to get things moving and we are a bit slow moving in the mornings...

What do you do in your homes???

Well my guys are 6 and under, so this is what I do:

After Breakfast:
each clears own plate
oldest empties dishwasher (except silverware)
4 1/2 yo. wipes table and sweeps
almost 3 yo. puts the silverware from dishwasher away

After Lunch:
clear own place (I wipe and sweep)

After dinner:
clear own place
oldest rinses dishes and puts them in dw
4 1/2 yo. wipes table
almost 3 yo. sweeps

This is the plan -- but sometimes for variety's skae, I give them other cleaning chores, then I take over these jobs. I load the dw every meal except after dinner.

Thank you for the insight Maryan.

Even posting this has got my creative juices flowing as well with ordering this part of my life (maybe it is the VEEEEERY cold weather that is putting my in organizational mode, as it is much too cold to venture out!)

I'm not sure how old your kids are, Kristie, but mine are older than Maryan's gang. Here is the lineup:

All four girls work together to empty the dishwasher each morning. Also everyone cleans up after herself for lunch. The other meal jobs are divided among the four older girls.

1. "Morning Job" - everyone is supposed to clean up for themselves after breakfast, but this job includes sweeping, wiping down the table and counter, and cleaning up after the youngest two.

2. Dinner - set and clear table (includes putting stuff away in the fridge)

3. Dinner - dishes rinsed and in dishwasher

4. Dinner - pots and pans and sweeping

the girls unload dishwasher in the morning.

everyone clears and rinses their dishes after breakfast. usually one of the big kids does little Judy's things.

I wipe and sweep, put away appliances as neccessary.

lunch same routine... people clear their own...

Dinner. kids set table. their help clear everything, putting away what needs to be put away.
parent wipes table and counters. kid sweeps.   dh takes out garbage.

recently dh and I split up the week.. I and the responsible parent Sunday through thurs. he is in charge Friday and Sat. that way I get a night or two off LOL.

My ds 9 gets the drinks and takes out the recyclables.
My ds 7 brings me the clean dishes and puts flatware on the table before meals, then wipes the table after meals.
My dd 5 unloads the dishwasher and sweeps (sometimes).
I get the food, load the DW, clean the counters and sweep after dinner (because no one does as good of a job as me )
My dh loads the DW after dinner.
My dd almost 2 often helps unload the DW and helps wipe the table.
