Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I heard a great quote today that went like this:

"Children are drowning in information and starving for knowledge."

This was from a public school teacher who was retiring at age 50 because she was so disenchanted by the No Child Left Behind program. She also said (and I cannot quote exactly here) that "it's what is planted in children, not what is poured into them that matters."

I really liked those 2 quotes because to me, they are the epitome of why our family home schools. I thought it was very much a "real learning" philosophy and wanted to share it here.
