Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm going to check on this Ruth. Yours is the second question I've had about this. I believe the hostess this time is not a 4 Real member so nothing was ever posted here as a reminder or with details where to send entries. She has already posted the fair here. You could try to send it to her as a comment, but that wasn't working for another member.

Here's a link to my lovely soup post. I also couldn't figure out how to get mine to Suzanne, but there are some good links on her blog.

Hi all. I sent Suzanne the links to the posts. It seems she may only check her computer in the mornings, so it may take a day for her to add your post. I also linked the completed fairs in the post announcing the topics so you can access all the fairs in one place. I'll be sure to post reminders in the future if the hostesses do not. Feel free to pm me links if you are having trouble getting them to hostesses. Thanks everyone.

I missed the soup fair. Here's a Lenten soup I just posted yesterday: Cheese & Shrimp Soup

Okay, this may be really dumb, but could someone explain these fairs to me? I think I get the gist, but I would like a more in depth understanding. Please excuse me if I am being really dense, but I just can't seem to wrap my head around this idea! Must be chronic sleep deprivation, although everyone else here seems quite coherent, so maybe it is just me!

Blessings,
Betsie

Me too - while I get the concept of what the fair IS (just from looking at them), I would like to know how the fair topics are decided. Can anyone suggest and/or offer to host one? Or does one person decide what the upcoming fairs are, then ask for volunteers to host?

Thanks!

First, apologies to Betsie as no one answered her question from a few weeks ago. It clearly slipped through the cracks so your revival of the questions now, Heather, is good.

I really am not an expert on fairs and carnivals but will answer based on my understanding and how these work here through 4 Real. So, basically as you probably have surmised the Loveliness Fairs or as they are being called this year "Simply Lovely Fairs" are a type of blog carnival. A topic or theme is picked and people who want to participate submit the link to their blog post (or the text and pictures in case they don't have a blog) on that topic to the person hosting by a certain deadline. The hostess writes up an article about the topic that contains permalinks links to other blog articles on the particular topic and posts on its scheduled date.

These loveliness fairs were started about a year and a half ago by a few of the members as a way for forum members to share a glimpse of the "loveliness" in their homes in a way that is more detailed than on the forum because it could be more detailed and contain pictures if desired. The first series of fairs focused mostly on places in the home and family & seasonal traditions. The topics have taken off from there to include many aspects of our daily physical, spiritual and homeschooling lives. They are a way to share the joys and pleasures of lives lived in pursuit of joy and beauty in the domestic church. With this years focus being on how this can be done in simple ways.

Deciding on topics - Several times there was open discussion and brainstorming of possible topics here on the forum, then those coordinating the whole thing would narrow down the topics and assign dates. Then people were welcome to volunteer for the fair they wished to host. Different people have coordinated it since it started and while it was once mostly only members of 4 Real participating, now other bloggers have joined in as well. Currently Colleen (missionfamily) has been coordinating this last round of fairs. They are set through the next month and possible they have future topics set as well but just not yet posted. I'll check with Colleen. I am sure Colleen would be happy to hear ideas for future fairs. You could PM her or post ideas here.

I wish we had one place where all the past topics were compiled together. I'll try to piece that together later if I get a chance.

Hi all! I'm putting out a call for submissions for the Simply Lovely Connections Fair. Please send me a link to your post, or email me your submission if you don't have a blog, or reply here. I'd like to have posts by Wednesday (though, really, I'm easy-going about that and always late myself, so...just SEND SOMETHING!) and I'll get it up by Saturday.

If you're not sure if you should participate, YOU SHOULD.   :) If you have any questions, feel free to email me or do the little PM-ey thing (I'm still new 'round here, sorry, but I think there's something like that, right?), or leave me a comment at my blog (below).

Here's the info about the theme:
How do we moms find time to stay connected to the ones we love? What are some simple ways we can nurture the vocation of marriage and connect with our spouse on a regular basis? Let's share how we create lovely moments in a typical day to connect with our spouses.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Blessings and peace,
Sarah

Mary--Thanks for your work in responding to those questions...I totally missed them until I checked in to read Sarah's reminder.
If anyone had ideas for topics for the spring round of Simply Lovely fairs, feel free to pm me.
