I just received this email from my mom:

Beth, I recd a call last night from a woman who works for me, Colleen. Colleen is a single mother with twins boy/girl age 12. New years eve her kids where at their Dad's and he was on his 4 wheeler pulling them on sleds. Well....Kate's sled got out of control and slammed into a stop sign. Kate is in intensive care at Flint Hurley Med ctr (he lives in Grand Blanc). She had a torn spleen (which they repaired) and has lost her one kidney. Right now Kate is stable, however, they want to make sure she does not get an infection. They are letting her stay at the hospital so she won't have to get into the travel back and forth. So....she needs prayers. She has a very solid support group (from a prayer standpoint) but I told her that I would contact you as well.

Please pray for this young girl and her family. I am sure that her dad is particularly suffering now

Thank you for the prayers for Kate. Here is the good news I just received from my mom:
Good news...Prayer works.
Trauma Team just left and Kate is healing well.
She has fluid (blood) on her lung that has to be drained; which they'll do
this afternoon.
As long as that goes well - (meaning - not a large amount of fluid) then she
can have JELLO!
Yum.
She's sleeping right now (more like crashed out from morphine) and doesn't
know she gets jello for dinner. Dave and I can't wait to see her face when
she finds out. She's been begging for something to drink and eat since
yesterday morning.
Keep praying guys! It works!
As long as Kate continues to improve - we may be out of here early next week!
