We just made this chili for dinner tonight and it is delicious! It does have a little "kick" to it, but kids ate all of it. I have more recipes on my sidebar.

Chili

1 pound ground beef chuck
1 pound bulk Italian sausage
2 can black beans
1 (28 ounce) cans diced tomatoes with juice
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1 large yellow onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 green chile peppers, seeded and chopped
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon dried basil
˝ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
˝ teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 (10.5 ounce) bag corn chips such as Fritos®
1 (8 ounce) package shredded Cheddar cheese


Heat a large stock pot over medium-high heat. Crumble the ground chuck and sausage into the hot pan, and cook until evenly browned. Drain off excess grease.
Pour in the beans, diced tomatoes and tomato paste. Add the onion, green and red bell peppers, chile peppers. Season with chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, oregano, cumin, basil, salt, pepper, cayenne, paprika, and sugar. Stir to blend, then cover and simmer over low heat for at least 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
After 2 hours, taste, and adjust salt, pepper, and chili powder if necessary. The longer the chili simmers, the better it will taste. Remove from heat and serve, or refrigerate, and serve the next day.
To serve, ladle into bowls, and top with corn chips and shredded Cheddar cheese

ETA- add some sour cream on top of the chili.

I'll have to find my dh's recipe and compare it to yours. Looks like several of the same ingredients.

Hubby cooked a huge pot of chili for our little girl's recent b-day party. We called it "Christmas Chili". It went like crazy.

I also had a small bowl of sour cream nearby thinking myself and my daughter would be the only ones wanting to top our chili with it. It (the sour cream) was gone before everyone had gotten their bowls and different ones went looking in the ice box for more. Had I only known how popular sour cream was. I didn't get any.

Everyone bravoed the chili. I made a mental note of what a great dish that is for large gatherings in wintertime.

Wow! That looks awesome! I almost made chili today but now I'm glad I didn't b/c I want to try this. Is it really spicy, though? My six month old breastfeeding baby does NOT like spicy foods.
I hadn't thought of using sour cream on the chili-I'll definitely try that next time around-it sure sounds really good! We usually use cheddar cheese but we've got some sour cream waiting to be used up before it goes bad-this will be perfect.

It's not too spicy, but you can probably omit the cayenne pepper. I actually use cayenne pepper instead of black pepper, so the kids are used to it. Let me know how it turns out.

Cay, I'd love to have your recipe. We always put sour cream on our chili also. I should add that to the recipe.
