Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Here is a list of books we used for our pond study:

Turtle Splash! Countdown to Ten by Cathryn Falwell....sweet!

In the Pond by Cristini & Puricelli........pictures only.......but clever, and a guide to all of the flora and fauna, at the end

Song of the Water Boatman & Other Pond Poems by Joyce Sidman..........clever original poems, teaching about life in the pond...fun learning!

Pond by Gordon Morrison.......EXCELLENT story of a pond through four seasons..........artwork rivals any nature study journal

Pond & River by Eyewitness

Pond & River: Eyewitness video

another video from libray was excellent, showed the four seasons in a pond, and great info about geese and herons........something like: Pond Babies

what are some of your favorite resources for studying ponds?

Oh, one more thing: we go visit a pond/marsh frequently, practically in our backyard..........the kids have grown up with the place......and now, the olders can go out there by themselves.......such a blessing!

I left a really neat book off of my above list:

WALKING THE WETLANDS: A Hiker's Guide to Common Plants & Animals of Marshes, Bogs & Swamps by Lyons & Jordan

reads like a nature journal with a sketch of each subject, info about it and a few paragraphs to a page of text. Another clever idea.

Wow, great list. Several people recommended the Golden book on Pond Life in this thread. There some other suggestions as well.

That is so cool that you have a pond nearby for study through the seasons.

Thanks, Mary..........I looked for a thread to add this list to......

WAY COOL.....one of our most amazing blessings: pond, marsh, meadow, forest, mountain, stream....all in about .5 to 1 mile walk...if that. Ask Willa. This place is so wonderful.   I hope you will come visit us soon, and see it for yourself!
