Hi everyone,
I was wondering if any of you all had a sling pattern that you could share with me? My dear SIL made me a beautiful unpadded sling that I use fairly reguarly. The only problem is that she is SUPER tiny, and I am very tall and broad, so I think I need a larger sling. She used about 2 to 2.5 yards of fabric, whereas I think I may need 3.5. (I am 5'10 and have shoulders that seem to get broader with each baby!! )
Anyway, I am interested in the larger, padded variety that all the homeschool moms seem to wear. I tried one of my friends on recently and it fit me very well!!! It came down nice and far on my back whereas the one I have seems to be half way up my back all the time. (Again, I get loads of compliments on how beautiful this sling is, but I need more of it. )
If you all do not have a pattern that you could share through the mail or email, do you know where I could purchase one etc? Thanks for any help in the matter. My baby is 4 months old now, and with twin 2 year olds, it helps to have my hands totally free!!!

Kim, I can help you make one next time we come over. I would buy 4 yards just in case. I think I have some rings left.

Oh Nissa, thank you for that link. I was just sitting here about to come to you all asking about a sling when I saw this! Truly an answer to prayers! Many thanks!

Thanks Ruth. I may take you up on that offer!! I just went to the blog that someone recommended and really liked the poly/silk blend, lined ring sling she had on her site. I had purchased the usual cotton fabric, but I think I might like the light weight style better. So, I will get the fabric from town soon, and then give you a call! I ordered rings yesterday from someplace online, so I should be all set by the beginning of the new year, AND I have a fab new sewing machine. Or, if I can escape some Saturday, maybe I can come over with my machine in tow, and we can do it then. I would love to learn how to make them anyway, just to know! Never know when it might come in handy to know how to make them. With all the little ones I have, I may be making lots of slings as a grandmother someday.
God bless!

Great question! I actually had been wanting to post about this too. Does anyone know of any pouch sling tutorials out there?
Or maybe those of you who use ring slings can tell me: Are these good for quick in and outs? My 14 month wants to be on my hip and off and on and off....you know the drill. To me, the ring slings look like I would get flustered with having to adjust the ring all the time, or is that a incorrect assumption?

I find that they do not need to be rearranged everytime and the quick in and outs are what I love about the sling. Also FYI you can buy metal rings at Lowes. Annie

I had a ring sling with my first child, but I found all that fabric to be bulky and annoying when he was a wee one, so I hardly used it. I have large breasts and I felt like all that fabric flowing down over me just made me look like I was wearing a tent.
I really like the type of sling that Lisbet featured on her blog. It seemed to fit closer to the body and not have anything hanging out when all was said and done. Im looking for the link now, I could have sworn I bookmarked it but I cant seem to find it.
Found the blog!
Here it is!
I guess it is more of a wrap than a sling. Im going to try it out this time 'round and see if I like it better than the sling type. You might like it too.

This is my favorite ringsling shoulder. Easy to make, and comfy, too.
