I know I should be grateful to be able to go to the dentist at all; so many people in this world do not have that luxury, and I am grateful for the privilege. Right now, though, I am pretty upset. My dentist's office and my insurance can't seem to get clear which papers need to be submitted for any payment to be made that will reduce our *huge* share of the fee, and the dentist is planning to drop our insurance after the first of the year anyway. We have been paying $200 a month out of pocket for the past several years to cover what we owe the dentist. Every time we get the amount down, someone else goes for a visit and the bill goes right back up. This is so oppressive! My husband, especially, is very discouraged by this. I need *a million dollars* worth of work done that I'm not even pushing for because I just can't contribute to this burden. Please pray that *something gives*.

Nancy, praying for you and this awful situation. We have similar struggles with ortho. My ds, age 8, has a severe underbite, which affects his speech, breathing, chewing, and causes headaches and jaw pain. He already has been through one round of braces on mostly baby teeth- to try to pull the jaw out. We cannot afford the next round of dental care- which he really needs.

 | I feel responsible in a weird way because he "gets it" -this condition from me. I had years of expensive treatment as a child and still my jaw barely matches up.
The kids qualify for state medical care, but not ortho. I do not have insurance right now at all.
Praying for you that you can get the care you need, and that this will somehow work itself out.
I know what it is like, feeling stressed about Christmas coming up, too!

 | Do you have a dental school nearby? My dh has no dental insurance and just got a tooth fixed - with an implant for a fairly reasonable fee. He went to the University's College of Dentistry. His regular dentist wanted thousands! I'll be praying for you both!
 God bless,
 Angela

Praying for you, Nancy, with complete empathy. The only time I was ever able to have all our dental work done promptly was when I worked full time and we had, thus, two dental plans.

I think dental insurance needs to be reformed...but that's just me.
