Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This is such a small prayer request, but I do need the help of your prayers and a supernatural "lift."

As a family, my dh and I have been protecting our Christmas' at home for the last few years. It has meant the world to our family peace! It always seems stressful running between his folks and mine, and allowing ourselves that family only time on the 24th and 25th has been an island of peace that I have been so grateful for!

This year, we will be spending from the 22nd to the 26th with my family though. My brother is going through chemo for the 3rd return of his brain cancer, and he was to have chemo on the 26th which meant we would not be able to spend any time around Christmas with them if we waited til afterwards. Of course, the reason is good and the sacrifice is worthwhile, but...my family seems to bring out the chaotic in my children. After we drive home on the 26th, I have 4 hours to wash clothes and spiff up the kids for spending the rest of the week with dh's family! On top of that I'm 7 1/2 months pregnant, and just long for quiet time.

I have reminded (myself ) and the children (who are also not happy about being away from home, but don't know the reason is because of their Uncle Chris) that the Holy Family spent the First Christmas travelling and away from home - yet they found unspeakable happiness in the birth of Our Little Lord.

Would you all please pray that we can keep the focus on the arrival of baby Jesus, that there isn't too much chaos . I know this is God's will this year for us.

I will be praying for your peace. Even when the reasons are worthy, it's a challenge to take our kids out of their routines!

I am praying for you Jennifer. I know the desire for a quiet peaceful Christmas - this year I have gone against the big gathering thing which stresses me out - we have told everyone that we are having a quiet Christmas Eve before Midnight Mass and then we are staying home and being just us on Christmas Day - we just want to be play games and watch A Wonderful Life and think about the holiness of Christmas. I "compensated" by hosting Thanksgiving for the big gathering.

You will be in my thoughts.
