I like to get little religious gifts for my godchildren (about the $10 range).
And I do REALLY well with ideas for the ages 7 and under set..., okay with 7 - 10 but once they hit ages 10 - 14 -- I'm at a loss.
In this age bracket between my husband and I: we have a godson who is 11 and two goddaughters 12 and 13 that I'm not sure what to get.
Other than namesake books, medals, rosaries and crucifixes (they have all those) -- does anyone have any ideas?????

Maryan, I don't have any ideas for the bigger or younger set! My godchildren are both under 7, what are your ideas for that age range?

If they like music, what about a CD? (From your Catholic bookstore, of course!)
My son got some of Amy Welborn's books for Confirmation, and I think they're really great.
Younger kids who can read seem to really enjoy subscriptions to Magnifikid.
If your goddaughters (the teens) like crafts, what about rosary-making kits or candle-making supplies? Illuminated Ink also sells some lovely Marian shrine kits. My son (13 and 14 when we did them) enjoyed creating the shrines.

Oh yes, Nancy has the right idea for 12-13 year old girls. Those are some of the specific crafts ideas I would mention if you want to keep it religious. There are other more generic craft kits as well that you could use to put a religious spin on (like the Klutz tissue paper flower kit to make flowers for feast day shrines).
Also my 12 year old daughter wants a bible cover/organizer and hopes her godmother will get her that. Here is a cute one for $10.

Thanks for a start on ideas ladies!!
Lisa,
For ages 4 - 8 -- the younger set, I get them picture books (like the Tomie dePaula's or any Catholic Mosaic etc.) or Mass books and write a special message in the front of the books, Glory Story CDs or Cat Chat CDs. I might start getting "Biblical action" figures that I've seen advertised as well!
For the First Communion year, I get stories to help First Communion.
For under 4, I've gotten Biblical puppets, large rosaries, plastic statues, made felt nativities, etc.
For ages 8 - 10, I've done Bible games, saint medals, better-than-plastic statues, holy water fonts, Catholic quiz games...
And for high school kids, I do Catholic day planners, calendars, "getting through being a teen" type Catholic books, etc.
It's the middle school kids (the ones I taught the longest!!) that have me stumped!!! They're so... in between!!

My 9-year-old played the board game Armor of God yesterday for the first time and really liked it.

Just one other thought: saint books NOT about their name saint. With confirmation coming and so many great heros of faith out there, the more they know about the better! Maybe one chosen for a similarity in personality or interest?
