Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I recently weaned my 3rd child, it has been 8 days since he last nursed, and I am still painfully engorged on one side (the side I tend to nurse on the most, my left, so my right hand is free to do other things. :)

It is quite painful, especially when I lay down. I haven't had engorgement last this long before. Suggestions? Do I just keep waiting? There doesn't appear to be an infection... yet.

Have you tried cabbage leaf compresses? I have never experienced this myself, but I read about this in several different places and it appears to help many women in your situation.

Could you express just enough to make you comfortable?

Peace,
Nancy

I'll second Nancy - express to comfort. Cabbage leaves are successful for many women. Leave them on until they wilt - then replace.

Also sage and peppermint are herbs that are commonly used to decrease milk. Here is info on Kelly Mom regarding that.
