Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Here is a review by Frederica Mathewes-Green. Looks like a thumbs up! Anyone seen it?

I am so glad it is a positive. My kids go to Little Gym, who has been supporting it--at least they were at the beginning of this class session--even had an Enchanted class. I was a little worried because there were no reviews. It sounds wonderful(and I am glad Little Gym is involved in something wholesome ) My kids will be excited to see it.
Thanks for posting this!!

We went and saw it Friday night for one of my dd's birthdays - it was very cute and I thought the scary part was more spoofy - like the character was overacting to a certain degree...but I am the adult (supposedly).

All of my children saw it and none complained of being affected by those scenes, fwiw....

i didn't read the view linked above, but...

we saw this last week. i have to say it was okay enough (adult point of view) as it didn't make me fall asleep at least. LOL Is it now a favorite of mine? No.

my 10yo DD enjoyed it, though.

it was rather sappy (IMO) with the main girl a bit too "sugary" in personality (wide-eyed awkwardness) but they're "fairy tale" characters & were OBVIOUSLY out of their element and thus "sappy" LOL. I had to LOL when a song in the movie actually REMINDED me of "little mermaid" with the calypso style music.

Fair warning... I hadn't read up on this movie prior to seeing it like i normally do, as grandma just up and wanted to take us. I was a bit taken back by the man/woman situations (divorce attorney, arguing couple) just because I didn't EXPECT it. My daughter didn't say anything/seemed bothered by it. The "divorce scene" was wrapped up with the princess sharing her thoughts on divorce. (Nice save.)

Scary part would be the "evil witch"... totally typical, wart on chin, black clothing, etc. I didn't even like looking at the evil witched dressed as the "apple bearer" (think old Disney's Snow White) ... and the dragon, though CGI not regular animation, was reminiscent of Disney's Sleeping Beauty, if memory serves. That was a bit intense (and again, drawn out.)

I don't think it is a "little kids movie." IMO. I definitely wouldn't suggest it for anyone under 9 years old. The storyline is a bit drawn out, if you ask me. Would I recommend the movie? Sure. Just don't expect it to knock the socks of the little girls who go gah-gah over the pink and bubblegum sweet stylings of the Disney Princesses. If those girls are now OLDER (like my daughter) than great! It is sure to please.

It is definitely a "chick flic" in that my older boys "yawned" through it... . But my 19 year-old daughter and I enjoyed it!

And I agree with mamaboo. I don't think it's really great for the littles. My little girls adore fairy tales and princesses, but they were kind of disappointed. I'm not sure why: I guess in the adult/"seriousness of relationships" themes and slight sensuality.    They say it is a perfect "all ages" movie....but I'm pretty demanding in my standards. I think of the Incredibles or something like that being "all ages"!

Still: speaking as an adult...I admit, I snickered and smiled quite a bit.

The scariness wasn't an issue for us. Actually, my little girls gasped at two parts that were slightly suggestive/romantic, not at anything scary!   At least they are not totally desensitized to that stuff!....

Is Patrick Dempsey as terrible in this movie as I've heard?
