I received this today from the Saskatoon Autism Society. They are going beyond their mandate to help a local family who's had a very hard time lately. I'll share part of the email and you'll see why...

During this Christmas season, we are inviting all families to offer love and support to one of our members who has very humbly and graciously accepted our support. This family has a beautiful seven-year-old boy with autism, a very busy 2-year-old girl who has a diagnosis pending, and a resilient, but exhausted mother. In October of 2006 the seven-year-old’s cousin and best friend passed away suddenly at the young age of four. One week later, he found his grandfather’s body on the living room floor. Prior to these unexpected deaths in the family, his father was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. At this time, his father was forced to leave his job because he was physically incapable of working and spent much of his time in the hospital receiving treatments. The boy’s mother was forced to get a job working ten-hour shifts for minimum wage to support her family as best she could. Sadly, on September 30, 2007 the father passed away while his seven-year-old son was making him breakfast early Sunday morning.


The email continues with a request for help to make this family's life and Christmas a bit brighter.

Knowing the power of the prayers by all the wonderful people who pray for the requests on this forum, I humbly request that this family be added to your daily intentions. I know that I'll be adding them to mine.
