Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi ladies,
I'm hoping for some ideas from you all for inside things to do. We're already feeling restless here being inside so much! So, please share....

What do YOU like to do during the winter to keep busy? (other than cuddle up and read! )

What do your kids like to do?
Do you pick a big family project to work on?
Favorite Games?

Thanks,
CK

Oh this is so relevant here too right now. It is cold and rainy and my kids have been going crazy all day. They played a couple of games and made some decorations for the Christmas tree(we are going all homemade decorations this year). My house is small so they seemed to be so loud today! I would love to see what others do for times like these. I finally broke down and let them watch the Connections DVD that came from Netflix today. Normally we do a lot of reading, but I think I would like them to also play a lot of games and of course there are always crafts for Advent/Christmas. I think we will make sugar cookies tomorrow to freeze. I would love to start a big puzzle but we don't have floor space (away from the baby) or anywhere to keep it while we aren't working on it. My mom and I did a walking exercise tape this morning and the kids wandered in and out doing it with us. I may have to use that sometime as an energy burner for the kids They love to dance around the house so we may have dancing time too. I can't wait to hear some new ideas, I coming up empty now

I would love some fresh ideas too- it is always a bit of a 'curve' here when the cold weather comes but there isn't enough snow to do much in!

My kids are under 4, so this is what we do:

Nature videos
Go to the mall play area or other indoor play facility
Art projects
Library
Jogging trampoline
Cooking/baking (and eating the results!)
Playdates with friends (at our home or theirs)

I am thinking that this Christmas I will be getting that new video exercise bike for my 3.5yo son, or (if I can convince my husband or the grandparents to foot the bill) possibly a Nintendo Wii. He NEEDS physical activity, and with a newborn baby in the house, we won't be spending much time outdoors even on the days that aren't freezing. Bundling up to play in 45 degree weather was fine last winter, but I just don't see it happening this year, particularly wtih a preemie.

Last year my kiddos were roller blading in the basement. That's probably not the answer you are looking for .

We have had a few Monopoly marathons going this weekend. My children are loving that, which surprises me since I hated Monopoly as a child, I guess I have a few moguls on my hands.

Twister is fun. We have Maptangle, that gets a little geography in there for school.    We also invested in air hockey table last Christmas.
