Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just wanted to let you ladies know about this charming series from Tove Jansson, a Finnish author. We are really enjoying them--children and adults. They are whimsical and funny, but also each story has a good message without being preachy.

The first one in the series is Finn Family Moomintroll.

Hope you like them too!

God bless,
ck

MacBeth has been talking about these for years as a favorite family books, but we've not yet checked them out. Guess we'll have to do that. She specifically mentioned this one as a great fall book in a thread from last year.

"Just wanted to mention our absolute favorite fall read-aloud: Moomintrolls in November. If you have never met the Moomins, you might want to get The Finn Family Moomintroll to start. These Finnish books have been translated into many languages, and are simply fun.'

And this thread she mentioned them as great summer reading. This is the order she mentioned for the books:

Comet in Moominland
Finn Family Moomintroll
The Exploits of Moominpapa
Moominsummer madness
Moominland Midwinter
Tales from Moominvalley
Moominpappa at Sea
Moominvalley in November

My littles and I have enjoyed the couple of Moomintroll books that we've read. My oldest isn't as fond of them. I think that they're so cute and creative, though. :) Thanks for the reminder. I'll have to check another out for read aloud time. :)

My 12yo loves these books! She found the first in a used bookstore when she was 7, and has collected the rest over the years. I'll be reading them soon with the 9 and 6yo's.
