I went to my first Traditional Mass yesterday. I was totally lost. Please would you recommend resources to educate myself, dh and the children.

Hey Marilyn!

I would pick up a copy of Montessori's The Mass Explained to Children. It's great for both you and the children...you'll follow along and learn with them.    Also, I recommend some chant CDs to help learn the music and the words, since music helps us to learn more quickly (at least in this house!).

Pro Multis Media has some great resources, including a CD: What Every Catholic Needs to Know about the Traditional Catholic Mass and a DVD: The Traditional Mass for Children. Combining these with the book Macbeth recommended and a couple of other texts, we are doing an entire study of the Extraordinary form of the Mass this year.

Also, don't try to hard the first few times attending this form of the Mass to understand and follow EVERYTHING. Just absorb and follow bits. At some point you will want to buy missals. Study the missals outside of Mass, mark pages with the ribbons and then you will be able follow along more during the Mass.
