Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Do you take a break or "close down" your learning room on the weekends? My kids are in there every day, and on Sunday I just didn't feel like sitting there doing the mirror polishing activity with dd. At the same time I hate to discourage her if she wants to work. What do you think?

We don't do any formal schooling on the weekends, but if the kiddos want to do some work on presentations we have already done, it is fine with me. If they want to do something I have not presented yet, I tell them they need to wait and I will be glad to show them on a school day and I redirect them to their toys or play-doh or something like that. As long as the weather stays nice they spend most of the weekend outdoors anyway, so it is rarely a problem. Also, I allow videos on the weekends, which is a treat since I don't on school days, so there is that, too.
Honestly, I need a break on the weekends from the level of intensity we keep up during the week and I also think down time is important for the kids. It also helps keep the materials fresh if they back off of them during weekends.

Reality is that even as adults, humans are always learning.... so we don't ever REALLY take a break. It's just that on weekends or holidays or vacations, it's not as formal ... but it maybe a cool video that starts us talking or a new game that makes us think .... or a great read-aloud that we can't put down ....

I don't close off my learning room. If I am up to helping them with something on a weekend or evening I will (an actually these bonus learning times are sometimes the best ones!), otherwise I just tell them that mommy is reading/cleaning/praying etc and will help them later, so they will need to choose something that doesn't need my help until then. My kids are infamous for bombarding me with science experiments and craft project requests on Sunday morning while I am stumbling towards the coffee pot, so
I know what you mean!

Generally, we don't because we do a lot of other activities on the weekend (swimming lessons, church) so there isn't a ton of time at home.

However, that can change. My son was sick for much of last week, so we didn't get to most of the Thanksgiving books/crafts/projects I had planned. He was better by Saturday, so we crammed them all in on Saturday!
