I sitting here contemplating heading to the ER. I have what appears to be some kind of abscess between my armpit and breast. It showed up a few days ago and I thought it was a wayward pimple. It is now about the size of a dime and my whole arm is achy and sore. It is very red and angry looking, it just keeps getting worse as the day goes one. I'm begining to feel a bit mastitis-y too.   I made an appointment to see the doc but she couldn't see me until Monday. I'm kind of nervous to wait out the weekend and the nurse said my only option was the er. I feel kind of silly doing that. I'd greatly appreciate your prayers and any advise you may have!

My brother had a cat scratch fever infection at the same place you are describing. His arm was super sore and he couldn't lift it. He was 13. I don't know anything else about cat scratch fever though! But I think it normally affects a lymph node site. His got very large and then started to drain, etc. I can't remember if he had to take antibiotics. The doc said it's one of those rare but common infections. And the same cat won't infect everyone, etc. After YEARS of cats, he was the only one who had it.

I'm not trying to diagnose you -- it just sounded so similar. Well, except for the mastisis.

this is a great quote- although I still like what I have heard: that it takes 9 months to grow a baby, and 9 months to recover, mentally, physically, etc. don't be too hard on yourself!! hope that you have been able to be seen by now, and that you can "hunker down" and recover....

Thanks for your prayers. I opted not to go to the ER and wait till my appointment on Monday. It still really hurts, and another has cropped up on my leg, and another unmentionable place.    I know it sounds gross, but I think they are boils. I'm treating them like they are. I've never had one before in my life! And now I have 3. Gonna get checked out Monday morning.
