What do you serve during dinner to an adult guest, who does not drink alcohol?

Iced tea, water or coffee (these are the most requested). If the person has lived in Europe I also offer fizzy water (Perrier or something like that). Usually the guest will happily drink one of these.

I like water myself... but some lemonade or juice is nice instead of the tea/coffee (some of us can't drink those)

Dh usually prefers water or "bubble" water (twist of lime or lemon is always nice). If you can have a selection of sodas ... cola, root beer, ginger ale type stuff that is also nice (especially if they need caffeine, but don't want coffee/tea). Iced tea is a great one for summer time. Sweet tea is definitely a staple in the South ... the syrupier the better according to southern afficiandos

I'm with you on the sweet tea, ladies. That's all we ever had with dinner growing up. Guests could choose soda, milk, or water instead. We never had alcohol with dinner at home, unless it was adults grabbing a beer out of the cooler during a cook-out.

Well, from reading your replies, I realize that I am a bad hostess. All we ever drink at home is water, so unless we are serving wine, all our guests ever get is water. In the colder months I do offer a cup of tea after dinner, but that really isn't a dinner drink. It never even occurred to me to buy special beverages to serve. I don't even know what sparkling water is.

I make a pitcher of some Celestial Seasonings fruit tea -- Lemon Zinger, Red Zinger, Black Cherry-Berry -- iced. We have a discussion group that meets in our home monthly, and I serve dessert and wine, but have this for several guests who I know are not alcohol drinkers. One regular can't do caffeine or sugar, so I serve this unsweetened, with the sugar bowl and a Jefferson cup of sweetener packets on the side. We're in the sweet-tea South, too, but this makes a nice change.
And Christina, all we drink with dinner normally is water, too. If we have unexpected guests, I never have anything nice on hand!
Sally
