Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm wondering how this is? Is it very cute or more like a Little House pace?

I'm looking into getting a couple of these to read to my kids, esp. for my little dd (5). However, my son (8) also should not be put off by them. Are they mainly about the little girl?

Also, are they boring? I need to have something that keeps MY interest too.

Thanks
ck

CK,

We just started Happy Little Family today and read the first chapter. My dd (5) and dd (just turned 4 on Sunday) both enjoyed the first chapter, but it was primarily about the 4 yo daughter. I'm not sure an 8 yo boy would enjoy them. I don't know whether I think it's as good as Little House, but I have loved Little House since I was a young girl.

We just finished Happy Times in Noisy Village and my 5 yo thought it was great and wants to read another one. If you haven't read these, I think a boy would find this more interesting.

Love to hear what other people say about this series so I can decided whether to invest in the rest of the books.

Our family enjoyed the whole series - ages 4 thru 12 at the time. There is an older brother in the series that an 8 year-old boy could relate to. My boys were 4 and 7 when we read them.

The Fairchild children also get progressively older as the series goes on.

I loved them! But I'll take a story about wholesome rural life any day!

Thanks for the input ladies. I think I'll start with a later one and see how it goes. If anyone is interested, I'll post again with a review. Seems like this series is not so well known...

And I put the Children of Noisy village high on my amazon list!

God bless,
CK

We enjoyed the series; my son will listen to any books I read aloud. I even told him I was just reading Milly-Molly-Mandy for the girls and he didn't have to listen. He always found an excuse to stay in the room for those little girl stories.

Then again my 5yo daughter has enjoyed, for the most part, listening to the Little Britches series which I would consider more for the older elem/middle school boy set.

Anyway, we really liked the Fairchild series.
