I have a friend who is taking her swimmer daughter to George Mason for a visit this weekend. I can get her as far as the Beltway and Braddock Road, and I know I've driven by part of George Mason in my travels in that area. I wonder if there is a better alternative to Braddock Road to those in the know. Input appreciated! Thanks.

She'll be coming down 270 from Frederick, and picking up 495 to Braddock Road unless there is a better alternative.

Patty -- That certaintly is fine to go that way IMO.

She should just know that traffic around here on Friday can be BAD at certain times. She shouldn't hit traffic on 270 (it should be going the other way), but she'll hit some on the Beltway and Braddock will be heavy.

If for some reason, she wants to come in from the west instead of the north, I wrote those down those directions.

- Take 66 EAST

- Merge onto US-50 E via EXIT 57A toward FAIRFAX. (go 1.7 miles)

- Stay STRAIGHT to go onto MAIN ST / VA-236 E. (go 1.0 mile)

- Turn RIGHT onto CHAIN BRIDGE RD / VA-123 S. Continue to follow VA-123 S. (go 0.8 miles)

- Turn LEFT onto UNIVERSITY DR. <0.1 miles Map (It's the big entrance into George Mason).

I live within walking distance of George Mason University, the Braddock Road side. A lot depends on the time of day she comes. Traffic is awful at Mason the morning hours (7-9) and the evening hours around 5-7.
