I'd like a very basic/beginner learn-to-play piano book for my nearly 4 yo. We have a keyboard in the 'learning room' and she has asked to learn but I can't remember much!
What are some good books to start with? Thanks!

I learned on Leila Fletcher so I'm using it with my kids. But I'm also trying Suzuki with the littlest one, as the older 2, based on their feedback, are already a bit too far ahead to get started with Suzuki now. (Plus I'm not a Suzuki-trained teacher so I really don't know if I'm doing it right -- just winging it really, based on what I saw in my older kids' violin Suzuki training, plus the Suzuki books and CDs.)

The Faber books are great. That is what I am using to teach my dd10.

Alfred's "Prep Course for the Young Beginner" is nice. It starts out playing without having to read music on the staff. Gentle introduction.

I second the Bastien series. I learned to play with those in 1st grade.

My 3 going on 4 year old has been begging to learn the piano for months. I have looked at 2 programs - Kinderbach (www.Kinderbach.com and Music for Little Mozarts which is part of the Alfred series) I think I am going for the Little Mozart one based on recommendations. My dd 11 wants to try teaching her little brother!
