My youngest is 4mos old and I don't have anything for her to wear out in the cold (or cool, even). I want something that will keep her warm, but not be too bulky. I am looking at this. Does anyone have this? How about any other suggestions? I looked at LL Bean, but I didn't like the stuff as well, I think it was either more expensive or more bulky looking.
Thanks for any help!

I used something like that (from Columbia sportswear) and it worked well for the little ones-esp less than 6 mos. But be sure they don't get overheated too with an extra blanket over the top.
When I was in IA where it was really cold in the winter we used this type of fleece bunting and a light blanket over the top to protect from wind.
How cold does PA get? In WA I never had to use anything that heavy for my baby, just a fleece pull over and light blanket.
Land's End fleece tends to be better quality too so you know it won't be too thin.
Happy Shopping

I purchased this last weekend (before it crept back up into the 70's). A friend used it for her little one, and it made a lot of sense. I have several bunting bags with slits for the car seat straps...I'm hoping this will be more convenient. I wont' have to wriggle the baby into the bunting.

Beth, I know this isn't the style of outerwear you are asking about but I wanted to mention it in case anyone is looking for an option for the mom and baby-in-sling combo. When my babies were that age I was always carrying them in arms/sling when we were out anyway so it would have made the most sense for me. I think it is really a cool (or should I say warm) idea, but then again I may be biased because I know the inventor. She is a local mom and many of my friends have them for their babies and love them.

Mary and Noreen, thanks for the suggestions. For what I need I would actually have to buy both of those products because I need something to keep her warm in the carseat and warm when she is in the sling.
Ann, thanks for the warning. I will most likely not be using an extra blanket unless it is really cold. It does get pretty cold here in PA and also I spend time outside with my 3yo and need something to keep the little one warm. Also, this baby tends to feel the cold more than her older sister so I think I need something warmer for her.
Thanks for the help. Anyone else??

I use something like this because it keeps the hands and feet covered and warm without having to worry about little mittens falling off or pant legs creeping up...
oops. Here is one in pink for a girl.

Mary, I really like that vest, but it doesn't offer a back carry option? Maybe you could run that by her...
I am currently bidding on a babywearing mamacoat on ebay with front/back carry option!

Lisa - it can be used with a back carry option (if the back carrier is a wrap and not a backpack) - photo

I like the fleece suits with the fold over cuffs... but for much running around I find it's easier to just take a blanket with us to tuck around them in the car.. and when the babies are fairly tiny, I wear them in the sling under a cape or poncho.. or a jacket I have a jacket that if I tuck baby in right.. I can wear the baby under my jacket (up to about 4-6 months).. and there is NOTHING as warm as being up next to mom under a jacket.. for mom too

I don't like the buntings because we put the heat on in the car and the baby quickly overheats. I just bought a fleecey car seat bundler at Babies R Us that doesn't go over the entire car seat, like someone else linked, but it has slits for both car seat and stroller so it can be unzipped once its warm in the car. I like this option much better.

I don't like the big bulky suits, but I don't live in a very cold climate and I won't be taking the baby out in the cold, either.
For my son I bought a Hanna Anderson car seat bundler, like Books describes. They don't have it anymore, but I see this one is a very nice option..

I actually liked the carseat cover that was on the side of the link you had. My DD was born in December, and I had her in one similar for a long time (or for as long as she was in the carseat).
This one is similar, but was from Hanna Anderssen. I don't think they sell it anymore, but I liked it because it wasn't made of fleece. I feel like that is just too hot on the poor babies, or maybe just on me!

Alot of this will depend on where you live. There have been mornings we're going to Mass when it's a whopping 5* and on warm days when you don't even bother with a jacket for yourself (just your regular long sleeves and long undies and lined skirt etc) it's maybe 35*

Thanks for the suggestions, but even though the car seat bundlers are great, I can't afford 2 products and I really need something for out of the car seat as well. I never haul her around in the carseat because I have our 3yo DD that I have to keep track of as well, so I just plop DD#2 in the sling. She seems more effected by the cold than our older DD. DD#1 is always hot, so we tend to keep things cool, so the car will most likely not be that warm, also, I get overheated easily and I am usually the one controlling the heat. It does get fairly cold here and I don't dress her in alot of sweaters and such so she will most likely be dressed relatively lightly underneath whatever I get.
