Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I could have sworn at some point I read on these boards about pears and/or pear juice as a remedy for stomach/GI problems. Seems to me it was more than one post within the thread, and someone's mother recommended it (maybe she was an RN??)

I have searched and searched (just went through one 17 page search result) and still can't find it.

Does anyone remember this discussion? Can you help?

Many thanks!!

At one point the gastroenterologist had me do an elimination diet to see whether my stomach pain was due to food allergies. For the first 24 hours I was allowed only bottled water. The first food introduced was canned pears (the only thing I was allowed to eat for the next 48 hours). I've not heard of this as a remedy for stomach discomfort, but what you're mentioning sounds consistent with my experience.

I don't remember a thread here about this, though.

Hope this helps in some way.

Peace,
Nancy

We haven't tried pears, but my 17 year old daughter, who has been suffering from stomach problems for over a year, has been taking papaya enzyme for a few months and she has been very healthy since, praise God!

Pear juice/nectar is very soothing for gall bladder inflammation. My family has a long history of gall bladder disease so this is how I know.

Thanks, Ruth. That's good news for your daughter. Where would I get the enzyme?

Maria - can you expound a bit more? I'm thinking this may be my problem.
