There have been a number of independent, but related, technical issues with the forum over the past several days/weeks that resulted from a recent server upgrade.
Please be patient while we try to iron them out.
If you are a guest who has been unable to register due to an 'insufficient permissions' error, please don't be discouraged. The registration problem will be corrected along with the rest.

Again, if you're having trouble posting (I am) or registering, give it rest and come back to it. With the posting thing, believe it or not, I've found that if I switch browsers, sometimes it helps. If Firefox won't let me post, I go to Internet Expolorer. If that doesn't work, I log into AOL and use that browser. If that doesn't work, I go fold laundry.

Usually, it just takes me several tries when I have trouble logging in. But then I am very persistent when I have something to say!

It sure seems weird but it just worked for me, too. I usually just stay logged in, even though I only check the boards a few times a week or less. But after being closed a few days, tonight using IE as usual, I couldn't post or login at all. I was just about to give up when I read this and downloaded Firefox, and voila, it works. Not only am I in, firefox showed me as still logged in to begin with! I closed it and re-opened IE and looked again, nope, still logged out and wouldn't let me login. Whatever, just glad to find a way in through the cracks.

The server issues have been ironed out (knock on wood).
Please feel free to post in the Help! forum if you continue to experience any problems with logging in / staying logged in / active topics.
