Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My favorite source for loose tea is Adagio Teas. When I last left the Starbucks habit (for four whole months), I was pretty content with their Spiced Green and Cinnamon spice teas. I'm getting to ready to place a back-to-school teatime order. Adagio gives you an opportunity to send five dollar gift certificates at the time of your order. So...if you want one, let me know here or in a PM and include your email address. I've used Adagio for long distance gift giving too. Just so you know, the first time you send a gift, a prompt pops up and asks if you'd like to send the same gift somewhere else for 10% off. Mom, godmother, stepmother--they all got the same thing for mother's day! And the customer service is the best on the web, hands down. They are prompt and friendly!

Elizabeth -- have you ever tried Upton Tea Imports? They have black tea, assam tea, green teas, iced tea blends, herbal tisanes and infusions -- you name it. I've actually switched almost completely over to tea -- and this from one of those that drinks coffee throughout a pregnancy or whatever !

The service is marvelous. I ordered from them last Thursday (regular mail, etc) and it was packed and sent out that afternoon and I rec'd it Saturday morning. Now that's service.

Their catalog and web-site have tons of info about teas.
They have cool tea accessories too.

BTW, when you order their tea, the package comes with your name on the label (or a gift message if you'd rather) so that you know they actually packed the bag for you!

Enjoy!

I really enjoy my Adagio teas. I love the whole process.....Heating up my pretty glass teapot, boiling the water, adding the tea and setting the timer for steeping. It is such a nice relaxing process for me! Much better than my cappucinno machine that I have forgotten how to work . My favorite Adagio teas are foxtrot and rooibos earl gray.
I think I will make some foxtrot tonight.

I've never found a tea that doesn't disagree with my stomach. Does anyone else have this problem?   I can drink coffee just fine.   Herbal teas are worse than black teas for me -- maybe I'm allergic to some kind of herb that's used as the base??

I would really like to find some kind of tea that would work as a coffee substitute for me, especially in the afternoon when I really want something warm to drink that won't keep me up past midnight -- ahem, like it is now

Willa:

Peppermint tea is actually supposed to help what ails your stomach. I don't venture too much into the different herbs, being pregnant so often (aren't there some herbs that aren't good for pregnancies?), but Peppermint, Green, and Apple/Cinnamon are my teas of choice right now.

God bless,

This is a great site Elizabeth. I am always looking for sources of good tea. I particularly like black teas - not much into herb teas at this point. When I went to this site, they were advertising a little teapot for the loose tea. It looks pretty handy-dandy! Have you (or anyone) used anything like this? I like loose tea, but have always just bought the tea in bags because I don't care much for floating tea leaves.

Becky,
I love my IgenuiTEAand use it daily. We have the big size, too--which is great for pitchers of iced tea. I've had the glass teaware and it's beautfiul but it really didn't withstand daily life around here. The glass is fragile...Let me know if you are going to order. I'll send you the first time gift certificate before you do.

Hi Elizabeth!

I'd love a coupon! What other teas do you recommend from them? We're continuing our fine art fridays with a tea time and I like to have one for myself during the week. Thanks for your offer!

Garrett came and got me Friday after his school work was done. He was channel flicking and saw a tea program about how tea is done in England. This growing boy of mine (who loves food, btw ) really got into this program. He was amazed at all the delectables and the establishment of it all.

We haven't done tea in over a year. I think it's time to refresh the tradition in our home...before the older ones forget it and the younger ones never celebrate it.

The children are starting to learn a bit of sign language and decided this afternoon to create "signs" for each member of the family. The 5 year old is represented by an adorable pout, the 11 year old is shown as a person reading a book, the 8 year old is a zany smile--you get the picture. What am I you may ask? I am a tea cup and saucer motion, complete with the pinky turned up. Boy, do my kids know me well!

We are big tea drinkers here, especially in the wet, damp, mossy days of winter in the Northwest. We order
in large, bulk orders from the Stash tea company, out of Oregon. Also we have had good success with the British Express tea
http://www.britishfood.com/home.html
Happy sipping!
Oh and how about the honey we add? At the local fair
we tasted the lightest honey to the darkest colored one.
YummY! So hard to choose.
Blessings

Hello!
I'm bumping this back up. My apologies to those who are still waiting for Adagio gift certificates. There were only a couple of you but I'm not sure I remember who. My computer has gone haywire in the past few weeks. I've lost all my Private Messages--so if you sent me one with your email address, please send it again. I haven't yet ordered from Adagio because my computer was hacked and my credit card and debit card stolen----so....I'm waiting for new credit cards and I'm working up the courage to order online again. But, I'm also running out of tea and adagio doesn't have phone ordering. I like the chance of tea winning out in the end .

Do any of you ladies cook or bake with tea? I have a book called Fortnum & Mason A Fine Tradition of Tea by Rosemary Moon and Janie Suthering that I picked up at a rummage sale. Not only does it give recipes for toddies, punches, scones, and tea cakes, but it also gives the history of tea from China through revolutions. Also, this book offers *food* recipes using tea. Maybe I'm naive, but I'd never heard of using tea in a recipe for food before. Following are titles of some of the recipes: Lemon and Jasmine Ice Cream with Earl Grey Sultanas, Tea Smoked Prawns with Thai Mayonnaise, Milk Chocolate and Earl Grey Mousse, Tea-Rimisu , and several more. Don't they sound scrumptious?
