Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We have several books from the KOSMOS publishing company.
They are in German and I don't know if they are in other languages too.

I'll try to find a link.

I only know that in England, my parents used Reader's Digest books
I those books when I was little. I'd sit at the window with binoculars watching the birds and then identifying them in the books

I used a Collins field guide, a very tiny "pocket" one. I'm not sure where you are in Europe--we were in Belgium, and most of the species we tried to look up seemed to be the same. I had good luck ordering from Amazon UK, I think I ordered that one used. Amazon UK had many options to choose from.

I remember that there were "Green Guides" (Michelin) that seemed to be popular in the stores, and some very inexpensive, slim, but nice looking field guides with "drawn" pictures vs. photographs in the discount bookstore (do you have those? Very, very cheap bookstores with good art and nature selections, but watch out for the pornography! ), but my Dutch was not good enough to use them! I needed an English version

I have found Peterson bird guides in several countries, all in English. Amazon has European Birds. They have used copies of the leatherbound Mammals book, and a guide to European Ferns, . Specific stuff, that!
