He walked out on her a couple of weeks ago, leaving her with three children - the youngest is just 6 months old. They have been very active in our church community and we are on Baptism prep ministry together.
It's shocking and sad.  I know she won't ask for help, and I'm trying not to push myself on her. So all I can do is pray fervently, and ask for help from you all.

Oh, praying...what a nightmare. Please consider sending her a "I care, what can I do?" card...she may be needing some childcare so she can go to counseling, or something like that, and not know how to ask.
I will offer my day for this mom and her children.

I thought about giving her a quick call this week to see if I can fetch anything from the store, or if she'd like an hour out of the house. Her parents live in the house with them (and have from the beginning), which is actually contributing to the problem rather than relieving it. It does afford her some childcare and financial assistance.
Mostly I've been just letting her know that I'm praying for them along with lots of other people. And I'm ready with a listening ear and a hug. I think that she's terrified of being judged, but this is not her fault. Nothing to be ashamed of. I'm wondering if, at the moment, letting her know that is the greatest favor of all.
Thanks be to God, she's been attending Mass and getting spiritual nourishment there. And they are getting counseling from our priest.

I forgot to add THANK YOU! Thank you all so very much for your prayers. They're such a nice young couple. I think we all go through marital difficulties as some point, to one degree or another. It's so important to help each other through in any way we can and prayer is a powerful gift.
