The daughter of a local Catholic family who was born on 8/29 with severe heart problems. The family are praying for a miracle and for the right pediatric cardiologist. Here is a bit from an update from her father:
"The doctors did the tests on Natasha’s lungs and determined that 3 of the 4 pulmonary veins from the lungs were going towards the abdomen instead of the heart. One of the four veins was going to the heart and because she has thin arteries this to some extent balances the circulation. But unfortunately because the veins come together so far from the heart the doctors say that surgery is not possible to correct this situation. Our pediatric cardiologist is going to send the images of her lungs and heart over to Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia and Boston but does not think any baby with a similar situation has been operated on. We are still hoping for a medical miracle, but one by one it looks like all the medical doors are being shut. If none open, then they will stabilize her and send her home for us to enjoy our precious few days with her.
I must tell you she is very beautiful and looking at her one would never imagine the challenges she faces because of her internal anatomy. She is able to breathe on her own – the only time they had to put her on a ventilator was for yesterday’s tests. Zita who was in a different hospital (Fair Oaks) recovering from labor was able to visit Natasha in the ICU for the first time yesterday after the tests when she was still on the ventilator. Hearing her voice, one she had heard for nine precious months, Natasha started to breathe on her own again and attempted to shake of the ventilator tube. It was so touching to see the bond God has placed between mother and child.
As I said, medical options seem exhausted, so we are praying that if God wills, He can perform a miracle for our precious daughter, and ask you to beg Him for the same. To our Catholic friends we ask you to pray a nine day novena asking Bishop Alvaro del Portillo to join us from Heaven in asking our Lord for this miracle. "

Marilyn,
Our family will be praying. Please let the family know there is a patron saint of heart patients: Saint John of God.
Also, I realize thinks look bleak, without a miracle occurring. I have unsolicited advice, please do with it what you will.....
If someone is able, and it is not done already, hospice can be a big help. Many have never cared for a newborn, but in my experience, they do come through.
If anyone can, there should be lots of videos and photos. And I mean lots. This time can never be got back.
A colleague of mine cared for a newborn patient with Hospice, who was born with a heart defect that could not be fixed. They took many hours of video, a thousand pictures, and a friend composed a song, words and music on guitar that is played on the video show. It is one of the most touching and moving stories I have ever heard/seen. And, the parents so appreciate all of that time on the video.
When they took their little boy home to die, the whole family, parents and grandparents stayed together for days, soaking up their little one's life. I think he lived about 11 days.
Bittersweet, but so beautiful.
I had a baby with a very rare heart defect, that was fixable......Sarah just had a good check-up two days ago..........I will ask her esp to pray.
Praying for a miracle, and if it is not God's will, a beautiful death.

Here are some pictures of baby Natasha from this weekend.
Here is an update I got from another prayer request group about her...it comes from her father...
Dear Family and Friends
It is Monday. Like you we are anxiously awaiting the feedback from the doctors at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia and Boston which should come in by Tuesday or Wednesday.
Zita celebrated her birthday on Sept 8th the feast of the Nativity of Mary. What a beautiful day to have a birthday.
Natasha gave us several beautiful moments on the 8th – she was very alert, smiled and entertained us with her sweet expressions, and vigorously drank all her required feed and more. We wanted to share the joy we felt with all of you who have opened your hearts to her. Please click on the following link to see a few photos of Natasha.

We are holding up well thanks to all your prayers. As each day goes by we keep hearing more stories of Natasha touching people's lives all over the world across all religious denominations. There are families going for daily mass and even on Saturday mornings which is a big sacrifice, children offering up all kinds of little sacrifices and prayers for her – one of our favorites was a friend telling us of their son offering up the goals he shot at soccer - "goals for Natasha". God hears all prayers and uses them for the good. He is a loving Father who listens to our every heartbeat with love and pride, and is especially close to us in difficult times.
Natasha is blessed to have friends and family like you and so are the rest of us. Please continue your prayers and know that they are filling us with peace and strength.
God bless
Zita and Colin, Aaron, Andrew, Marc, Katrina and Natasha
