I am really, really struggling with IBS and anxiety. I am sure the stress of dh's job situation isn't helping.
Right now, I am supposed to be at First Friday Mass. DH even took short lunches all week so he could go in late to work to be able to attend with us - as a family. And once again, I have ruined it.
The FFMass is even being held at my parish - only about a mile from my house - and yet, I was unable to walk out the door. The fear and anxiety or having an IBS attack while out is absolutly paralyzing me. Even when I think about going somewhere, my stomach starts to churn.
Each week at Mass, I am a mess. It starts the evening before. Sometimes I can make it through Mass, sometimes I need dh to drive me home - more often the latter. Either I have an actual IBS attack (which is horrible) or I have a panic attack from worrying I will have an IBS attack (or a panic attack). Every Mass - which I long to attend, and just feel "normal" - is totally exhausting. I battle with myself the entire time, just to stay there, just to not run. Sometimes I make it, sometimes I don't, but whether I do or not the rest of Sunday is pretty much spent near the bathroom either way, as afterwards I am just fatigued.
I am aware that this is a vicious circle. I have been struggling with this on and off since my Dad died somewhat suddenly when I was 19. But recently...recently it has gotten just terrible.
I am trying out a new IBS program that is supposed to help, but it really isn't yet, anyway.
Could I ask for prayers - for peace, for this program to work, for calm, for my poor family having to put up with this too - we rarely get to go and do anything fun, at last not with me too. I just stay home.
My heart is just hurting so badly right now.

Praying for you, Laura--this must be so difficult. I'll be asking Saint Joseph's intercession for your peace.

I've been there, so I completely understand. I had to make some changes to my diet, and walk every day (even if it was only around the block). Take it easy on yourself; it's a difficult thing to get through, but you *can* do it!

Laura, I am praying for you. That was very interested what you mentioned about your father. Maybe to offer a Mass for him and ask that he intercede for you too. In that we connect with them in a powerful way through the body of Christ.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
No fun at all.
Praying for you, Laura. Keep talking to us here if you need to. Talking out the anxiety is the best thing in the world. Oh, and making yourself laugh each and every morning. Oh, and inhale, count to 10, then exhale while counting to 7. I use to have to do this at Mass.

Dear Laura. I will be praying for you. My 18dd suffers from IBS. It is so tough on her. Please PM if you would like to know about her diet and other things she has done for it.

Laura, I am SO sorry! What a cross you have to bear!
IBS is a problem with some of my relatives.....big cross.
I know you asked for prayers, and those you have got....but, some unsolicited advice: if there was any way you could find a homeopath to do a constitutional remedy for you, I think it would be of great benefit. It could make the IBS more bearable, along with diet, and could erase the anxiety.
Please, Laura, come to us for any immediate prayer needs, like the anxiety, and we will be right here for you. I promise! Nothing like immediate prayer support!
Hugs!
