Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Mater Amabilis recommends Chesterton and other WWI Poets for level 4 poetry. I tried a little research on Catholic poets and found Siegfried Sassoon. Does anyone have any other recommendations? I'm sure we'll do In Flanders Field.

Gwen, try Wilfred Owen and Rupert Brooke. The BBC has an audio gallery presentation on Wilfred Owen. You can also find poems by Owen and Brookethrough the Modern Sourcebook site. Neither were Catholic, so far as I know, but their poetry is well worth reading.

Ah! One of those links also has several other poems, including one by Sassoon, and the BBC page has links to short bios of Sassoon and Brooke.
