Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I thought I'd post this link for finger knitting. I wondered what it was myself after reading Montessori in the Classroom. I had no idea how it was done, but it sounded like something interesting to try. Here's the link

My 5 1/2 year was doing these kinds (not on this scale--using 3 fingers though) at 4 1/2. She loves to knit now and can fairly well by herself. By knitting I mean using needles! She knits really loose and I still have to get it started but she does it :)

She loves to also finger crochet a string which is simple easy to do. We found a way to put beads on it as well.

We've also been doing this! My ds7, much to my surprise (he usually is not into crafts) LOVE to finger knit. And dd4 is cruising doing the "chain stitch". We have friends who attend a Waldorf school, and they taught us this summer.

I just purchased the knitting mushroom from Magic Cabin and ds prefers it to fingerknitting...although it is very similar. The stitches come out more tight and uniform. He's been making "snakes" galore. I'm hoping to start him with needles this winter.
