Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Do you do these simultaneously?

For some reason, that seems overwhelming to me.

Thanks for your input! :)

It can be really simple actually. The intent of the artist and composer studies we are doing here on the boards was to have a few selections/paintings chosen each month to become familiar with. It is more of an art appreciation than a real in-depth study. At the very basic level all you might choose to do it print out the art works and post them somewhere during that month to view and discuss a bit. The musical compositions could be played periodically during the month to listen to and reflect on. Most learn a little basic info about the artist. If a family wanted to do more they certainly could and we try to encourage people to post resources and ideas for expansion. You could really get more in depth into the background and works of the artist, do projects that are similar to the artist, go to concerts/exhibitions, etc.

And if it seemed like too much to do both anyway, you could alternate between a painter and a composer each month. You could also alternate between weeks if you wanted to include them in the same month so you didn't feel like it was to much at once. Lots of options. This is just a springboard for whatever fits into your life at a given time.

I do both in a very low stress way: I pick one composer and one artist per month. For the artist, I use pages from a calendar to post a new "print" on the fridge each week. For the composer, I play a cd by that composer (usually the same one over and over) every day, so the kids absorb it and pretty soon start to recognize it. I might also hang up a picture of the artist and composer on the fridge (usually something I google and print off myself) just so the kids can put a name with a face. And that's it. My kids are still young- as they get older we'll go into more detail.
