Ok, so a couple years ago my hubbie swore off regular deoderant. he was having skin reactions and we had heard for years that there were bad chemicals in deoderant and especially antiperspirant. but i held onto my ladies speed stick and secret, as i wasnt fond of the idea of sweating. but then i started to get sick of all my light colored shirts getting underarm stains. and when one brown tank top actually got bleached out from the deoderant i was using, i started to wonder if there was something to all the rumors. so, my husband tried the crystal thing, and it didnt work at all for him. but now he uses a natural deoderant from wild oats that is great. i have been trying it out the past few weeks, and it doesnt do a thing for me. i stink so bad at the end of the day.  it is strange because he really does perspire like a man, and i am usually the good smelling one- i dont like having it the other way around. 
long story short- does anyone have suggestions for natural deoderants?

I've never tried this, but I've heard people rave about it:

3/4 of the year, I can get by with just baking soda poured into my hand and rubbed into the underarm area (and I do normally sweat, and smell, so it's not like I'm just an unusual sweet smelling person ). I do at times have to re-apply midday, but it only takes a sec and is not bothersome. It didn't hold up this summer, but it may have been because I was pregnant and feeling 50 degrees hotter than I normally do, LOL. With cooler weather approaching, I'm going to try again.
I have heard that many people have an adjustment period (a week? two?) where nothing natural seems to work, but once thier bodies get rid of the residual deoderant/antipersperant natural things start to work better. I read that rubbing baking soda on the underarm area while wet in the shower (do NOT do right after shaving, I warn you!  ) helps to rid the area of residual "stuff".
I'm interested to hear what others use, too!

I have tried a couple of different natural deodorants, too, in the past couple of years and they did not work for me either. I was concerned with the chemicals, etc., especially due to the possibility of breast cancer and the close proximity of the deodorant application. I gave up but I am still interested if there would be something that really works!

We have all used Tom's of Maine here for several decades.
Honeysuckle for the ladies/girls and unscented for the men.
My dh broke out with the lemon grass one..........or something like that, but otherwise, no issues........and no stink, I hope!

Dh uses deo from the brand Weleda. Lemon deoderant.
He also has sensitive skin and is very happy with it.
I might just try out the baking soda suggestion.!

We use the Tom's of Maine too... I still sweat, but it is not so bad as with nothing  . Dh apparently just doesn't have that problem!! 
Maybe he has just adapted to the heat more being born and raised here unlike myself!

We have a spray bottle of vinegar in the bathroom that we use for deodorant. Sometimes I reapply midday in the hot summer, but most of the year it is fine (plus, in the hot summer, I used to need to reapply midday with commercial deodorant, too). It works for us, and I use it to sanitize the bathroom and clean the chrome on the sink--so it does double duty. I also know of people who do the same with rubbing alcohol.

This is what I wear.
My dh wears NOTHING -- and never smells bad can you believe it? 
The only ingredients are Natural Mineral Salts and Ammonium Alum (no aluminum, no fragrance, no parabens).
It's basically a rock in a tube.
You have to dampen it with water b4 it will go on.
It is GREAT! One tube lasts absolutely FOREVER -- like over a year.
I have tried many natural kinds -- Tom's of Maine, Kiss my Face, etc and this one works the best. I rarely have to reapply with this one and with some others I had to twice. (And when I'm pregnant body odor--mine and others--really bothers me. ) Other ppl I know who think natural deodorants don't work use this one and think it's great too.
It doesn't STOP sweating -- I don't think any natural deo.'s do b/c that's not natural  -- but the sweat doesn't smell.

My family uses rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball rubbed under the arm. It doesn’t keep you from sweating, but the alcohol keeps you from smelling. I have been doing this for a year and a half and am satisfied.

Hm. I use the Toms of Maine Honeysuckle Rose.
Don't like the Lavendar. Smells AWFUL on.

I used to use the Tom's of Maine Calendula. Now I just use plain corn starch under the arms and under my breasts. Works very well on wetness. I don't use anything for odor...no complaints yet. :-)
