Don't know if you all have seen this or not, but you can receive a free curriculum from the American Heritage Education Foundation to teach about the constitution, the founding fathers, etc. They have grants that are paying for the distribution of full curriculums (elementary, middle and high school levels) which you can get in either VHS, CD or "binder" format (i.e., a hardcopy).
Here's the link:
AEHF Curriculum link
I rec'd mine today and altho I haven't completely reviewed it, it looks pretty good and has all kinds of age-appropriate activities and full lesson plans for teaching civics at multi-levels.
Hope this helps.

Mary,
Thanks so much, Mary! This looks GREAT! I just asked for them to send it to me too. I noticed that it is there to download too though. This looks wonderful.

I actually rec'd my curriculum -- I asked for the binder version, but they also sent a CD. This was put together by a Christian-based group and looks pretty good. I rec'd 3 binders -- elementary, middle and high school levels. Has great stuff about the flag, pledge of allegiance, etc -- facts, games, projects, story ideas, etc. Very much written for a "traditional" classroom, but can be easily adapted.
Hope this helps.

You can see it as online too if you want to see it to see if it'd be helpful. Or you can download for free. I asked for all three too, as I have all three levels now. I want to really delve into this this coming year, and this will be a great supplement!
Mary, how long did it take for you to receive yours if you don't mind me asking? I'm just wondering for planning purposes. Thanks!

Mine came within a week -- first class mail at that! So not only was it free, but THEY paid the $10 in postage!
One thing I like about it, and how I figure it's from a Christian group, is that they talk alot about how the founding fathers entrusted the nation to God and explains why Christian symbols and phrases are used throughout (on currency, in our songs, etc).
Hope this helps!
