If you breastfeed in a sling, can you give me any pointers?
I think my problem is that my breasts are too big, since I still have to hold them up with one hand when nursing - but I wonder if I'm just missing something. If I could walk & nurse, it would make our museum visits much easier :)

I always found that I needed to be sitting down and get latched on first, then I could stand up and walk around. It took alot of practice for me to master nursing while walking around, but it is a lifesaver when you have other little ones running around. What kind of sling are you using? Does the material have a little give to it? My maya wrap sling was by far the easiet to nurse in while moving. It had the most wiggle room.

Hmmm... I am trying to think back a year or so and picture how I do it.
I think for the earlier months, I do keep my hand inside the sling to add support and keep the baby from suffocating.  If you get the sling tight enough so that the baby is right up to the breast, you have enough support that you don't need two hands.
I know by six months or so, I don't really need to use two hands and can walk around pretty comfortably.
Just keep practicing!

It's a while now but I have large breasts and I sometimes would find it helpful to roll up a washcloth, hand towel, or cloth diaper to help raise my breast to a good position for the baby to latch on better, especially when they are very little babes. Depending on the time of year, sometimes I just couldn't manage to nurse inside the sling well. But in the cooler months I was usually okay...

I figured it out out of desperation once (you don't easily abandon an almost finished grocery shopping trip when you have to take all the kids along)
And you probably want the baby LOWER and the sling LOOSER than you'd think. I did better with baby's head on the side opposite the rings/supporting shoulder.
I'd just play with it at home and see how things lay on their own.. and then adjust to make that work.. ya know.

Have you looked at Wear Your Baby? They have instructions for feeding in a wrap (not a sling I realise, but if it's the convenience you're after...). Here is a picture of it in action, although it's not precisely obvious. This shows you one way of getting set up.
I usually start with the Front Cross Wrap and lay the baby across (it's quite awkward to set up, but once you're settled, it's easy). If you want to try this out, I can give you a bit more info:-)
I found it quite difficult at first (and I never managed in my ring sling), but got there eventually after _many_ attempts.
