Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I posted about this in the Real Learning forum, but thought I'd cast my net here as well -- I'm looking for links, stories, etc., about how the men in our lives contribute to our children's learning. I started thinking about this in writing a post about my brother, who's a woodworker and canoeist and who, though he and his wife are declaring themselves to be a "childless by choice" couple (sigh), loves my kids and offers his many gifts to expand their horizons in ways I just can't.

Of course my husband, aside from being "Principal Dad," contributes a lot, too, especially by taking the older kids with him sometimes to the college religion classes he teaches. They love to sit in the back of the class doing their own work, but also listening to his lectures.

Anyway, I'd love to hear other people's stories and post them on my homeschooling blog, Saint Daniel the Stylite Academy. If you've got a minute, please post to this thread or pm me your story or a link to a blog post -- even just lovely pictures of dads, uncles, grandfathers, etc, doing things with their kids would be wonderful!

I had scheduled the carnival for tomorrow, but I can extend the deadline if I need to. Thanks so much!

Pax,

Sally
