Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I want to purchase a nice toy kitchen for my younger kids for Christmas. I need it to be moderately priced and I would prefer wood-hopefully made in America(I know that this might not be possible.)

If anyone would like to voice their opinions on this I would really appreciate it.

we made one for our kids.
out of an old bookshelf.

I got the idea from a Family Fum Mag.

it is just a two shelf bookshelf. dh cut a hole in one side of the top. I then glued in a small purchased metal bowl for the sink. DH then made a faucet out of wood.
on the opposite side from the sink, I used two old CDs to make the stove top. and two store bought wooden knob that I painted for the control knobs.

I painted flowers on the sides. I purchased two tubs to store the dishes and food in. I also sewed a curtain for the front, and hung it on a tension rod. I also put hooks on the side for the dish towels and aprons (that I sewed to match the curtain).

we have had it now for 5 yrs and it is holding up very well.

We also plan on making a brabie doll house like this. out of another old three shlef book shelf.

my sister said that Target had a nice looking wooden one for not too much. kind of like pottery barn type...

hope this helps.

Joann,
I bought this wooden toy kitchen by Little Colorado after recommendations from this thread I started a while back...Good luck! I love our kitchen, btw, and $136 is very cheap for such a well-made play kitchen-- and am going to get the refrigerator for my 2 year old's birthday (she turns 3 in a few weeks!!).

We have this kitchen from Target. We got it after last Christmas on super sale ($60) It has held up very well to fairly rough play.
