Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I wanted to mention a really short and sweet chapter book we just found, one I plan to discuss at my 8yo's book group this fall. I posted about it just this morning: A Book (and a Trail) to Recommend.

I've envisioned a little rabbit trail to go along with it, too - seeing as how we're such squirrel fans here.

We have enjoyed this book a few times. November sounds like a fine time to pull it out and read it again. I am a big fan of Cynthia Rylant also. I want to live next door to Mr. Putter and Tabby because then we could enjoy all of Mrs. Teaberry's yummy treats.
Have you checked out her series about the High Rise Private Eyes?

Some things are just timely. DS just finished up a tornado study, and now he wants to do squirrels...

Rachel and others,

There is a squirrel unit at www.homeschoolshare.com. We are doing this for the month of Sept. There is quite a bit there if you are interested.

Blessings,

And if you're into squirrels, there are always Thorton Burgess books about "Happy Jack Squirrel" and "Savannah: A Squirrel of Colonial Williamsburg". And of course, Beatrix Potter's Squirrel Nutkin!
