Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I've been having moderate to severe vertigo for a few weeks now. My doctor said that as long as I'm nursing, there's nothing I can take for it. My nursling is only 11 months old and we are nowhere near weaning.

Does anyone know of any homeopathic rememdy that'd be safe for nursing? Daytime rest and night-time sleep do help, but I'm getting neither these days with no way to change those situations right now.

If you have any ideas, please respond quickly as I'm leaving on an extended vacation tomorrow. I have a health food store in my town and could zip out this afternoon to get something.

Thanks so much!

Molly, can you take ginger capsules? They helped me with morning sickness and also work with motion sickness, so they might help with vertigo too.

God bless!

Hi Molly

No natural remedies to suggest - but Zyrtec (antihistamine) can sometimes help and it is approved for pregnancy and nursing. Check with your doctor though - and it does make you sleepy. When my allergies are bad I take the kid dose - in liquid. Also try sleeping with a lot of pillows. What about the motion sickness pills - are these approved for nursing?

I will pray for you. Vertigo is horrid.

Benadryl was what I was told to use for my vertigo, but I can't remember if it's safe for nursing. I thought it was okay for pregnancy. But that does knock you out.

Sometimes just drinking more water can help if you are dehydrated vertigo will increase. Sudden drop in blood sugar can be a cause also. Hope you get some relief. Annie

Is it positional vertigo? If so, there are some head-turning exercises you can do that usually bring relief. Ask your Dr for a referral to an ENT (ear nose throat specialist) and they should be able to help you.
