Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I know this is minor in light of all the very serious requests here but my dd was having some shoulder pain, especially with violin but it is now impacting her piano as well. Evidently she has managed to get her body to think that the normal resting place for her left shoulder is significantly higher than her right. The good news is that there weren't any structual abnormalities like scoliosis so this should be correctable over time with a lot of work.

But now the pain is even impacting her piano practice and as this is her major and her dream and she has a bunch of accompanying jobs (orchestra reductions of some pretty complicated Tuba concertos) coming up and she cannot let the people down, she cannot just stop playing though she has tried to reduce practice time, has dropped all violin practice (which makes her very sad and frustrated) and is stretching, stretching, stretching all day and between every piece she plays/practices. She really needs to be in good shape by the time school starts. She also had a pretty scarey allergic reaction to the cream the massage therapist used (it was hypoallergenic and all natural ingredients but evidently she is skin sensitive to botanicals)where her lips actually swelled. Fortunately no breething problems or anything terrible though we have been told after the fact that we should have gone in to ER for that one. I just gave her Benydryl and the hives and swelling went away - we just had to keep a regular dose of benadryl in her system for several days till she finally got over this. Anyways, I know she is frustrated - and music is her primary love and stress reducer so some prayers for her would be much appreciated. We suspect that some sort of violin form problem or improperly sized chin rest of something is the main cause of the problems and she will be getting her violin prof to help her figure out any form problems that are contributing - plus any adjustments to the instrument that would help. She does not want to totally give up violin. She was just starting to make some really big improvements with this teacher. I know she is concerned about all of this and knows old/bad habits are hard to break. She doesn't want to end up with long term injuries that keep her from performing.

Thanks for prayers.

Janet
