Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

While straightening out my school room this morning, I looked through my box of things I had put aside for geography for this year. I had forgotten about this book, but when I saw it, I thought I should share.

It's the Childcraft book "Places to Know" from the "How and Why Libray series, and it's the 1982 edition. I bought mine at a thrift store in mint condition for 50 cents. I see this series all the time, and it's such a great resource for homeschooling. It's a real shame to see them delegated to the shelves of a thrift store, but I'm so blessed to find them so cheaply!

Some of the things inside are the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World, Where People Worship, Oh! and Ah! places, Treasure Places, and more.

Vicki -- thanks -- we have these upstairs and I ALWAYS forget to pull them out ... sometimes, the kids pull them out and have a great "unschooling experience" with them .... talk about REAL LEARNING!

Mary, I love this set of books! I think you could homeschool completely for a year or more just by reading these books. That's so neat that your kids like to read them on their own--that is "real learning".
